Dragons fall to Blue Devils on mat
CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS – Cambridge Springs won three straight matches late to top Warren, 39-27, on Monday in the Dragons’ last regular-season wrestling match.
“Overall, we had a pretty good match,” said Warren coach Ted Carrington. “(Ryan) Fitzsimmons came up with a win at 106. Ryan dominated his match from the start.
“Grant Heeter had a great match (at 152) against a quality opponent,” said Carrington. “Grant ran his bar as usual, but came up a little short.”
Carrington added: “Damien (Sanchez) wrestled a good match also. He returned to the mat after a hard slam, which resulted in Damien receiving a penalty point. Damien could have easily not returned, but he insisted he was fine.
“Trentin Anthony stepped on the mat for the first time this year,” added Carrington. “It’s hard to throw someone in the lineup that hasn’t wrestled all year. Trentin stepped up to the plate and took the opportunity to wrestle varsity.
“All we can do now is focus on the postseason.”
