MERCER — The Sheffield Wolverines performed well at the Mercer VFW Tournament held at Mercer High School this past weekend.

Danah Campbell placed second at 285 pounds, wrestling three matches before losing a tight one 3-2 in the finals.

Landon Mead wrestled from the sixth seed to take second place in the 152-pound weight bracket.

Trenton Mead, not to be out done by big brother, did the same wrestling from the No. 6 seed for second place in the 138-pound weight class.

Collin Brown finished fourth at 126 pounds.

First-year freshman Bryden Letendre won four out of six matches in the 106-pound weight class to finish in fifth place.

“I am proud of all of our wrestlers and the improvements we continue to see,” Sheffield head coach Tom Holden said. “We are fortunate to have Paul Clough and Kevin Smeil on our coaching staff this year and it’s all coming together.

“Postseason is fast approaching.” Holden added, “It’s time to get dialed in and wrestle our best.”
