JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — Traden Gray scored 17 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Jamestown Community College to its first win of the season, a 107-44 rout of Butler County (Pennsylvania) CC on Wednesday night at the Physical Education Complex.

The 6-foot-7 freshman from Frewsburg shot 7 of 13 from the floor, and was one of six Jayhawks (1-7) to reach double figures. The others were Clinique Jackson, Gonzalo Luque and Elgin Oliver with 15 points apiece; and Kareem O’Brian and Joseph Ross both with 11.

Troy Loughry scored a game-high 25 points and Austin Rodgers had 11 for Butler County CC (0-2), but the Pioneers shot just 27% from the floor.

By comparison, the Jayhawks, who lost a triple-overtime game against Lorain (Ohio) CC on Tuesday, shot 57% from the field for the game, held a 48-34 rebounding advantage and scored 62 points in the paint compared to only 20 for the Pioneers.

The game was close early — Jamestown CC led 15-10 in the first seven minutes — but the hosts closed the half on a 31-16 run to build a 20-point advantage at the break.

Then the Jayhawks cruised the rest of the way. In fact, they began the second half on a 28-7 surge to build the margin to 41, leaving no doubt about the outcome.

Jamestown CC returns to action Friday when it travels to Genesee CC for a 7:30 p.m. tipoff. The Jayhawks return home Sunday for a 3 p.m. game against WVU Potomac St. College.
