Norwalk powers past North Buffalo

Norwalk, Connecticut scored four runs in the first inning and four more in the second before eventually finishing off North Buffalo 12-1 in five innings via the 10-run rule in Monday’s final game.

The New England Region champions used four singles, a walk and a hit by pitch to plate four runs in the opening frame, keyed by Elvin Pascual’s two-run single to right field.

Norwalk added four runs in the second inning on two singles, two errors and a walk. Pascual hit another two-run single before the final two runs scored on an error.

Armed with a 10-1 lead, Norwalk put the game away with a two-run fourth inning as Matthew Rinaldi and Dylan Izzi hit RBI singles.

Pascual finished with two hits and four RBIs while also scoring two runs. Matthew Vahle had two RBIs without the benefit of a hit while five other players drove in runs for the Mid-Atlantic Region champions.

Charles DePalma struck out five in 3 2/3 innings before Matthew Weiss struck out two over the final four outs for Norwalk.

Camilo Ramirez, Karson Grover and Max Langer had hits for North Buffalo.

Norwalk will take on undefeated Southeast Region champion Tallahassee, Florida today while North Buffalo will play against Pacific Northwest champion Puyallup, Washington.

GAME 12

SHOWDOWN PUSHED TO TODAY

Monday’s scheduled “prime-time” game between the host Jamestown Krusaders and Ohio Valley Region champion Eau Claire, Wisconsin was pushed to 8:30 this morning due to afternoon weather.

Both teams are 2-0 in the American Division and this morning’s game should go a long way toward deciding the top seeds in the division.

Jamestown beat Midwest Plains Region champion West Fargo, North Dakota 8-2 on Saturday and then topped Southwest Region champion Tallassee, Alabama 12-6 on Sunday.

Eau Claire beat Tallassee 5-1 on Saturday and Pacific Southwest Region champion Hawaii Kai, Hawaii 17-4 on Sunday.

Today was slated to be Jamestown’s off day while Eau Claire will play a second game this afternoon against West Fargo.
