Syracuse extends series vs. Jackals

Winner will take on Indiana in conference finals

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The third quarter wasn’t kind to Jamestown in Game 2 of The Basketball League’s Eastern Conference finals on Friday night at Bishop Grimes Junior/Senior High School.

In fact, it was too much to overcome.

Trailing by only a point at halftime, the Jackals were outscored, 35-17, over the next 12 minutes and suffered a 133-108 loss to Syracuse.

That sets up a winner-take-all situation heading into today’s third-and-deciding game in the best-of-three series, with the winner advancing to the regional round next week.

Leading the way for the Stallions was Trashon Burrell with 31 points, 11 rebounds and nine assists. Jimmy Gray III added 27 points, Jacquil Taylor chipped in 19, and Jordan Robertson and Michael Henry each had 15.

That balance — along with nearly 50% shooting from the field and 34 assists on 50 made baskets — was too much for Jamestown to overcome. The Jackals shot just 41% from the floor, including 31% from distance. By contrast, the Stallions were 17 of 39 from the arc, good for 45%.

Dane Miller led the Jackals with 28 points seven rebounds and seven assists; Jon Lee contributed 22 points, Raheem Singleton had 13, Anthony Moe added 12 and Daniel Mulamba scored 10.

Today’s win-or-go-home game is set for 5 p.m., back at Bishop Grimes Junior-Senior High School.
