This team has fun.

Warren’s Boys 9-11 All-Stars turned to their “rally caps” with two outs in the top of the fifth inning.

“Technically, you’re doing it wrong,” Warren coach Shawn Wilson told his players. “You rally when you’re behind.”

Warren was leading St. Marys 9-2 at the time on Friday at Betts Jackson Field, and won 13-5 to advance to Sunday’s Little League 9-11 championship game at DuBois.

“It’s fun,” one of the players told their coach about the rally caps.

Warren scored seven runs in the top of the fifth inning — before the rally caps — to break a 2-2 tie.

All seven with two outs.

After a bases-loaded walk to Wesley Wilcox, Wyatt Wilson ripped a two-run double for a 5-2 lead.

Jaret Lang’s two-run single made it 7-2. Tanner Stuart added an RBI hit in the inning.

Then out came the rally caps. Better late than never. Warren would score four more times in the sixth inning for a 13-2 lead.

The rally may be for Sunday’s championship game at unbeaten DuBois. Warren (2-1) lost 7-5 to DuBois a week ago, and will look to reverse that result for the District 10 title.

On Friday, Stuart had two of Warren’s five hits. Ty Bryan and Wilson had three RBIs each, and Stuart two.

Liam Hanson started and threw 1 2/3 innings of scoreless ball. Stuart, Ty Bryan, and Wilcox finished off the win.

Jaxon Seeders had two hits and three RBIs for St. Marys in the loss.

Keegan Weissinger made several nice plays at second base for Warren, and left-fielder Logan Ristau had a nice catch in the bottom of the sixth.

Starting at $3.50/week.
