RUSSELL — The International Sports Academy is launching its inaugural ISA Golf Scramble benefiting international youth sports. The event will take place on Saturday, Aug. 29 at Cable Hollow Golf Course.

The winning team will receive a $400 cash prize, with $200 for second place. In addition, there will be multiple opportunities to win other great prizes from local businesses.

Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. The four-person scramble will include continental breakfast and lunch. Golfers can register for $65 each, or $40 for Cable Hollow GC members.

The International Sports Academy is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization based in Russell that partners with local churches all over the world to set up organized sports programs as a means of reaching young people in their regions.

In the poorest areas of the developing nations where ISA works, there are no youth sports facilities, programs, or equipment — not even a public park in which to play. When there’s nothing to do, kids get into trouble, with many children ending up in gangs, kidnapped by human traffickers, or recruited by terrorists. Many more turn to drugs and alcohol. Donations to the ISA keep these kids off the streets, changing the course of their lives, and giving them hope for the future.

Local businesses can connect with the ISA’s engaged local audience through sponsorship of the golf scramble. Several sponsorship levels and benefits are available, including a special $50 level for nonprofits. Businesses can also gain exposure and interact with the ISA’s audience by donating prize items such as gift certificates, products, gift baskets, etc.

This year’s presenting sponsor is The HUB at PF, a sports and arts outreach of Praise Fellowship in Russell. The HUB’s mission is to restore hope and transform lives while building relationships within the community.
