Eagles, Knights well-represented at D10 AA meet

Youngsville and Eisenhower will be well-represented when the District 10 Class AA Track & Field Championships get underway today at Slippery Rock University.

The top two finishers in each event, as well as those who meet state qualifying times and distances, will qualify for the PIAA Class AA Track & Field Championships at Shippensburg University.

Youngsville junior Ethan Beers is seeded first in the triple jump with a season-best leap of 44 feet, 7.5 inches. Beers is also the third seed in the high jump and will also compete in the long jump.

Teammates Ollie Boozer and Chase Myers will join Beers in the high jump competition with Boozer also competing in the triple jump and Myers in the 110-meter hurdles and 300 hurdles. Freshman Aiden Eger will compete for Youngsville in the boys javelin.

The Eisenhower boys have two individuals seeded amongst the top eight in their respective events. Joe Mistretta is seeded third in the 800 while Joe Gigliotti is seeded fourth in the 3,200 and sixth in the 1600.

Easton Fitzgerald has qualified for districts in the 200 and 400 while Bryceton Wilkins is qualified in the high jump, JE Unida in the triple jump and Ryan Chambers in the 100. Ike’s Gigliotti, Fitzgerald, Wilkins and Mistretta will also compete in the 4×400 relay.

The county’s top seed for the girls meet is Eisenhower’s Rosalie Rondeau, who finds herself seeded fifth in the triple jump. A busy day for Rondeau also includes competition in the 100, 200 and long jump. Also seeded are Eisenhower’s Sophia Martin (seventh in the pole vault) and Emily Grosch (eighth in 800) and Youngsville’s Cassidy Britton (seventh in the 3,200). Britton will also compete for the Eagles in the 1,600.

Other individual district qualifiers for the Lady Knights include Hialeah Stanton in the pole vault, Marissa Gourley in the 100 and 300 hurdles, Bryn Lindell in the high jump and Laney Belcher in the 400.

Eisenhower’s female relay teams will also be represented in all three events, including the 4×100 team of Lainey Font, Gourley, Leah Morrison and Belcher, the 4×400 team of Morrison, Font, Belcher and Grosch and the 4×800 team of Belcher, Izzy Grosch, Emily Grosch and Peyton Kellogg.

Field events will get underway at 10 a.m. today while track events are scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m.
