Warren XC turns in strong performance

KANE – The Warren boys and girls cross country teams traveld to Kane to compete against the host Wolves, as well as DuBois, Ridgway, DuBois Central Catholic and Punxsutawney.

The girls came away with wins against Kane, DCC, Ridgway and Punxsutawney, but fell to DuBois, while the boys’ only victory came against Ridgway.

“Despite the heat we had some really good times,” said Warren coach Kevin Dustin. “We decided to train through the meet to tweak some of the girls racing methods and it turned out they still did really well and learned a lot.”

Warren’s Naomi Hahn paced the girls with a 20:36. Fellow Dragon runners Brianne Ristau and Kayla Giambrone were separated by only one second in sixth and seventh place with a 22:33 and 22:34, respectively.

Iris Roberst (28:42), Gabby Hahn (29:57) and Lyndsey Dippold (33:37) all set season best times on the day.

For the boys, Troy Shattuck’s personal best 18:23 was good for fourth overall. Dan Lauffenberger (15th, 19:35) set a season best as well.

“Things are coming together for us as the season starts to shift toward championship racing,” Dustin said.
