Five or 10 years ago, the news that the Warren County Fair wouldn’t have a carnival midway would have seemed catastrophic.

What could be worse than a fair with no rides?

Two years ago, we got our answer — no fair at all.

Local fair organizers have been doing their best to find a new midway ride provider after being notified the previous provider was merging with another company and cutting dates from its schedule. Organizers are optimistic a new provider can be found, but not in time for this August’s fair.

Fair board members are looking at alternatives, and we look forward to hearing what they come up with. Whatever that is, let’s not let the loss of the ride operation company ruin the fair.

We’ve seen what happens when the fair goes away. This is certanly a better alternative.
