Right time to end declaration

Warren County Commissioners have made a good choice in rescinding the county’s COVID-19 emergency declaration.

Commissioner Ben Kafferlin said during a recent meeting the declaration helped hire people at a time when they needed to be hired quickly as well as to bypass some of the typical hurdles to reaching needed agreements quickly.

Everything was still done publicly, just more quickly.

It’s been several months since the disaster declaration has been used, however, and the commissioners decided this was a good time to return things to normal.

At some point, every government — local, state and national — will have to reach that point. COVID-19 cases are at a trickle in Warren County and there are plenty of vaccines in the county right now.

In short, this was a good time to make a public acknowledgement that things can begin returning to normal.

Starting at $3.50/week.
