Margaret A. “Peggy” Groetzinger

Peggy was born June 9, 1941, in Newport, R.I., the daughter of the late John J. and Mary E. Marsden Vars.

She was a 1959 graduate of Cathedral Girls High School in San Diego, Calif. Peggy was employed by the County Day Care and Head Start Programs as an aide. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8803 Ladies Auxiliary, and a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church.

Peggy enjoyed golfing, photography, and especially her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Peggy is survived by her husband, Robert M. Groetzinger, whom she married on April 29, 1961; four daughters: Victoria Lynn Groetzinger of Erie, Pa., Teresa D Sledzinski of Warren, Pa., Christina M. Groetzinger of Warren, Pa., and Patricia Bessetti of Lakeside, Calif.; five grandchildren: Kellie Duckett, Bryan Sledzinski, Kristen Neilson, Kaitlyn Sledzinski and Kayla Bessetti; 12 great- grand- children: Tyler, Krista, Christian, Katriana, Keehan, Ashtyn, Ricky, Austen, Cataleya, Justin, Brynlee and Nate; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her grand-son, Ron M. Duckett; great granddaughter, Amora Gardner; and two brothers: John J. Vars Jr. and Andrew M. Vars.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Warren, on Friday, Nov. 6, at 1p.m., with Rev. Fr. Richard Tamassone, pastor, officiating.
