Richard Baker

Richard A. “Dick” Baker, age 79 of West Palm Beach, FL formerly of Jamestown, NY and Lottsville, PA passed away the morning of August 31, 2017 at Darcy Hall of Life Care due to complications of Dementia/Alzheimer’s and COPD.

Richard was born January 1, 1938 in Jamestown, NY, a son of the late Thomas Sheridan and Louise (Moreland) Baker. He graduated from Youngsville High School in 1955. He then joined the Naval Reserves where he served from 1955 to 1963 when he was honorably discharged. He went into Sales and worked for Wayne Feeds and Allied Mills until 1972. He then partnered with Roger Mosher in Mosher Mobile Milling. The feed mill was originally owned and operated by Richard’s Grandfather, Earl Baker.

In 1985, Richard moved to South Florida where he became a Real Estate Agent. He worked for several Realtors in the Palm Beach Gardens West Palm Beach area. He joined Illustrated Properties and worked there until he retired in 2010.

Richard was a member of the Mt. Moriah Lodge #145 Free and Accepted Masons and was a Past Monarch of the Kharram Grotto.

Richard enjoyed playing the guitar (he played by ear), he loved to go out dancing and really loved Country Music. Some of his favorites were Hank Williams, Ernest Tubbs, Glenn Campbell, Johnny Cash, Alabama and Diamond Rio plus many others. He was a friend to all and many people called him their friend.

Richard is survived by his four children, Lois Baker Speck (Terry) of Jupiter, FL, Vicky Baker of Ball Ground, GA, Rochelle BakerHughes (Brett) of West Palm Beach, FL and Richard W. Baker (Melissa) of Roseville, CA; four grandchildren, Jon Costa of Orlando, FL, Nick Costa (Tina) of Port St. Lucie, FL, Chase Baker and Ben Baker of Roseville, CA; two great-grandchildren, Emma and Jase Costa of Port St. Lucie, FL; two brothers, Thomas Baker of Linden, AL and Phillip Baker (Floi) of San Jose, CA; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.

Burial will be at Lottsville Cemetery.

Arrangements will be announced at a later date.
