Kenneth Holtz

Kenneth A. Holtz, 89, formerly of Hill St. Warren, PA, died peacefully on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at the Orpha Blair Hospice House.

Kenneth was born in 1926 in Pleasantville, PA, the son of the late John W. and Florine Folwell Holtz.

He graduated from Pleasantville High School in 1944. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served In the South Pacific for two years. He graduated from Grove City College in 1950.

Ken worked at the Struthers Wells Corporation for forty years, Warren, retiring in 1992 as Director of Manufacturing.

In addition to being a husband and father, he served many roles, including President the Board of the YMCA, was President/VP for several terms on Private Industry Council of the Five County, Northwest Training Consortium, under the Federal JobPartnership Training Act. He served several years on the Board of WACOPSE FCU, and on the City of Warren Planning Commission.

He was partner in Glade Land , Inc., who constructed several homes in Glade Manor on Leslie Blvd. He served 15 years on the Board of Watson Memorial Home, ten as President, the PennDOT Adopt a Highway Program Conewango Ave. Ext., for 22 years, Past Master and Trustee of Joseph Warren Lodge, F&AM.

Kenneth was also an Elder, Deacon and a 60 year member of the First Presbyterian Church, Warren.

With others, he founded Community Concerns, Inc. a nonprofit which maintains a halfway house for discharged patients from Warren State Hospital. Served on the Board for 40 years.

Kenneth was an avid golfer, hunter, fisherman, and reader, enjoyed family, many friends, and colleagues. He bowled for forty years in the Monday night Church League.

Ken is survived by his wife, Martha Rudolph Holtz; four children, Mark A. Holtz (Gail) of Cleveland Ohio, Lee B. Savino (David) of Ada, Ohio, Matt A. Holtz (Lori) of Raliegh N.C. and Mike Holtz of Warren; one brother John “Augie” Holtz (Lorriane) of Pleasantville, PA, and one sister, Barbara Burgeson of Port Allegany, PA. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Kyle and Eric Holtz, Abigail and Michael Savino, Tyler Cole, Ashley Phy, Jordan Cole, and Mallory Holtz.

Friends will be received at the Peterson-Blick Funeral Home Inc., 1003 Penna. Ave. E. Warren, PA, 16365, on Tuesday, March 1, from 58 pm, and in the parlor of the First Presbyterian Church, 300 Market St, Warren, on Wednesday, March 2, for one hour prior to a funeral service to be held there at 11:00 am, with Rev. Jeffrey Ott, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Pleasantville, PA.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Warren Public Library, 205 Market Street, Warren, PA, 16365
