She was born on September 16, 1926 in Columbus, Pa., a daughter to the late Andrew and Anna (Layos) Kuzma. She was a member of St. Mary’s Greek Orthodox Church in Corry, Pa. and married her husband George P. Savko on September 11, 1948 in Columbus, Pa. In the late 40’s, Florence worked at Raymonds in Corry. All of her life, she worked on the farm that George and her built, until health reasons prevented her from doing so. A lot of people referred to Florence as “Ma”; she loved that. When she was physically able, she loved mowing the lawn, working outside in the yard and in her flower beds. Florence enjoyed watching football and going to games. Her favorite team was the Buffalo Bills and most recently she was a fan of Peyton Manning. She also enjoyed watching game shows, particularly The Price is Right and Wheel of Fortune. Her pet cats gave her constant companionship, especially Stormie who lay by her as if protecting her when anyone came to the house. One of her favorite activities was going for rides, especially during the fall, looking at the landscape and also looking for wildlife.
Florence is loved and missed by, her son, George Savko and her daughter, Janet Savko, both of Sugar Grove, Pa.; her two grandchildren, JoAnn Savko and Jeff Savko; five greatgrandchildren; a sister, Agnes Kiehart of Spartansburg, Pa. and many nieces and nephews.
Among those with whom Florence will be reunited in heaven are, her husband, George, who passed on October 8, 2002; her parents; her brothers, Michael, John and Paul Kuzma and her sisters, Ann Freeman, Martha Komenda and Alice Demming.
