The Warren County Youth Football League (WCYFL) has announced a $1,000 donation from the Warren County Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #83 to help launch a fundraising campaign aimed at purchasing Guardian Caps for local youth football players.

The donation has already pushed the campaign to nearly one-third of its fundraising goal, providing an early boost to efforts focused on improving player safety ahead of the upcoming football season.

Guardian Caps are padded helmet covers designed to reduce the impact of head contact during practices and games. The fundraiser’s initial goal is to provide the equipment for athletes in the Warren County Youth Football League. Organizers say that if fundraising goals are exceeded, the initiative will expand to include the Warren Dragons Football program.

“We are incredibly grateful to the Warren County FOP Lodge #83 for stepping up in such a meaningful way,” said Kassie Damcott on behalf of the WCYFL in a press release. “Their donation not only brings us significantly closer to our goal, but it also sends a clear message that the safety and well-being of our young athletes matter to our community.”

The Fraternal Order of Police, the nation’s largest organization representing sworn law enforcement officers, supports officer safety and community initiatives. Locally, FOP Lodge #83 participates in programs focused on youth involvement and community well-being.

The campaign was sparked by a group of concerned parents who wanted to bring additional safety measures to local football programs. Organizers are encouraging businesses, community organizations and residents to contribute to the effort.

As teams prepare for the fall season, updating and modernizing equipment remains a priority, helping athletes focus on skill development, teamwork and sportsmanship while promoting safer play.

The Warren County Youth Football League provides football opportunities for area youth with an emphasis on character development and community involvement. Registration for the league’s flag and tackle football seasons is now open through the WCYFL Facebook page, which also includes information about upcoming free player development camps.

Community members interested in supporting the Guardian Cap fundraiser can contact Kassie Damcott for additional information.
