Council honors junior member Kylie Jurkowski
Junior Council Member Kylie Jurkowski and Council Vice-President Danielle Flasher after Monday’s City Council meeting.
At Monday night’s meeting, members of Warren City Council recognized Junior Council Member Kylie Jurkowski for her service during the 2025-26 school year, praising her leadership, volunteer work and commitment to the community.
Council Vice-President Danielle Flasher highlighted Jorkowski’s extensive involvement in school and community activities. In addition to serving as Junior Council Member, she participates in student council, the National Honor Society, the Tri-M Music Honor Society, the Grace United Methodist Church choir and church outreach committee. Flasher also highlighted her work as treasurer of Key Club and her various volunteer efforts.
“You are very impressive, and we are so grateful that you chose our council to serve as junior council member on,” Flasher said during the meeting.
Jorkowski thanked council members for the opportunity, saying the experience allowed her to learn firsthand about local government.
“It’s really been amazing to be part of this,” she said. “It really has been great. So, thank you.”
Council members presented Jorkowski with a commemorative city cup bearing the city seal and encouraged her to remember her time serving the community.
According to the city’s program description, the Junior Council Member serves as an advisory member of council, giving local students an opportunity to observe municipal government firsthand while representing the perspectives of younger residents. The position is intended to help students develop leadership skills and civic engagement.
The city is currently accepting applications for the 2026-27 Junior Council Member position. Eligible applicants must be City of Warren residents who will be juniors or seniors during the upcoming school year. The application can be found on the city website and is due June 5.
