City DPW announces 2026 recycling changes

City map showing recycling sections.

With the new year will come changes to the city’s recycling program.

Curbside recycling has been required in the city since the 1980s. In previous years, recycling has come twice a month.

However, in 2026, recycling will come bi-weekly. During holidays, recycling will be pushed back one day.

Some city residents will see an additional change in the new year.

According to Administrative Assistant at the Public Works Department Kassie Damcott, Waste Management and Recycling Services has requested that sections 6 and 7 be combined. Because of this adjustment, residents currently in sections 6 will have their recycling pickup day moved to Tuesdays.

Within the next few weeks, city residents will receive packets highlighting these changes, along with magnets displaying their section’s updated recycling schedule.

Recycling is a state-mandated program, and all residents in the City of Warren are required to participate.

Recyclable items include glass, aluminum cans, tin cans, plastics #1-7, newspapers, magazines and cardboard.

According to 2024 totals, the city recycled 661.33 tons of material that year.

Damcott encourages residents to place their recycling bins at the curb the night before their assigned pickup day to ensure collection in the morning.

Those with further questions are encouraged to contact Damcott at the Department of Public Works at (814) 723-6300 ext. 120 or by email at kdamcott@cityofwarrenpa.gov.

Starting at $3.50/week.
