City teen charged after alleged threats against WAHS
A Warren teenager has been charged with two counts of terroristic threats after allegedly admitting to State Troopers he had thought about, and had a plan to, commit a mass shooting at Warren Area High School.
Jared H. Rex, 18, of Warren was charged Sept. 5 with terroristic threats with intent to terrorize another and terroristic threats cause serious public inconvenience by the State Police at Warren after an alleged incident Sept. 3 in Warren.
According to a news release from the State Police, troopers received a call from Warren General Hospital in regards to a threat to the Warren County School District. Troopers went to the hospital and spoke with Rex, who had been admitted to the psychiatric ward the day prior for homicidal and suicidal thoughts.
“An interview was conducted with Rex to which he admitted to having thoughts and a plan to commit a mass shooting at Warren Area High School,” the release states. “The Warren County District Attorney’s office was contacted to which they agreed to pursue two counts of terroristic threats against Rex.”
