Johnson Transportation to host a bus safety event for kindergarteners

Johnson Transportation's school bus safety day will focus on bus safety and teach county kindergarteners about safety on the bus.
Johnson Transportation will host a free event on Sunday open to all county children attending kindergarten this fall.
The event aims to help ease their anxiety about bus riding and teach them about bus safety.
Connie Johnson, who owns the busing company with her son Cody Johnson, conceptualized the idea last year.
“As a mom and a grandmother, I know that starting kindergarten is an overwhelming experience for little ones,” said Connie Johnson. “Allowing them to see the bus and ride on the bus without the additional first-day-of-school anxiety can help their transition.”
Soon-to-be kindergarteners can meet bus drivers, learn how to cross the street for the bus, board the bus, and learn other bus safety measures.
They will have a chance to explore the bus from front to back, ask questions, and then take a short ride to Youngsville Hardware, where Dustin Schwab has collaborated with the Johnsons to donate ice cream for all participants.
The event begins at noon on Sunday at Johnson Transportation, 22045 Route 6, Youngsville.
