WGH offering flu vaccination clinics this month
Warren General Hospital is currently offering flu vaccination clinics through the end of October.
Clinic dates include Oct. 11, 13, 17, 20, 23, 25 and 27 by appointment. Available times vary by day. Interested individuals can make an appointment by calling 814-723-4973, ext. 3050 between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Fluzone Quad vaccines in regular and high dosage will be offered. High dose is recommended for those 65 and over.
Only traditional Medicare or Medicare Advantage plans will be accepted as insurance. Individuals can self-pay at a rate of $53 for a regular dose or $104 for a high dose.
COVID vaccines are not currently being offered by the hospital.
“Those would need to be done through (patient’s) physician or pharmacy,” WGH Director of Marketing and Communications Mary Ridout said.
The state recently reminded residents that those on Medicaid and CHIP are covered for COVID testing, vaccination and treatment.
“As fall arrives, we have seen an uptick in cases of COVID-19. Some of the best ways to prevent COVID and to keep those around you safe is to stay up to date on vaccines and to get tested if you’re not feeling well,” Pennsylvania Department of Human Services Secretary Dr. Val Arkoosh said in a release. “Pennsylvanians who get their health coverage through the state do not have to pay for these vaccines, tests, or treatments.”
According to the release, “Medicaid, including the Medicaid managed care organizations, is required to provide coverage for COVID-19 vaccines, vaccine administration, testing, treatment, and stand-alone vaccine counseling for beneficiaries under 21 without cost sharing, at least through September 30, 2024. This includes new booster shots as they are approved by the federal Food and Drug Administration and recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In addition, Medicaid must cover all types of FDA-approved COVID-19 diagnostic and screening tests, including those done at testing sites, at-home tests that are sent to a laboratory for processing, and at-home tests that do not require a laboratory.
CHIP contracted managed care organizations must ensure continued coverage without cost sharing for all FDA-approved or authorized COVID-19 vaccines, vaccine administration, screening and testing, treatment, and stand-alone vaccine counseling. Stand-alone vaccine counseling occurs when a patient or caregiver receives vaccine information from a provider, but a vaccine is not administered in the same visit.”
Four free at-home tests are also available to every household through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and can be delivered.
