Spanning Generations

ACC, Erie Arts and Culture bring art program to Warren

A month-long art offering sponsored by the Allegheny Community Center and the Erie Arts and Culture appears to have been a smashing success.

The program was specifically designed to be inter-generational and ran each Tuesday in August at the .Allegheny Community Center.

A teaching artist and art therapy student taught new acrylic painting skills and techniques throughout the month.

“The ACC was approached by the Erie Arts and Culture Center,” Kimberly Wilson, director of center services for Warren and Forest Counties, said. “The ACC hosted the event, paid for supplies, and augmented the cost of our resident artists.

“I have enjoyed this painting class so much,” Peggy McCauley said. “I have been able to spend time with my great-granddaughter and seeing what an artist she is becoming.”

“We are so fortunate to be included in the multigenerational painting class,” Julie Szymczyk added. “My seven year old granddaughter, daughter-in-law and I….The center does wonderful things for our community.”

“I have enjoyed myself more than I can say,” Tee Cee Lyle added. “Also it’s nice that it includes seniors, teens, and kids.”

Wilson said the ACC would like to thank residency artists Christine Troll and Marcy Hall, Ethan Hayden with Erie Arts and Culture and well as those that participated.

“It was a real pleasure for us to collaborate on programming with Erie Arts and Culture, who receives funding for this program through the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, Experience, Inc, and the Allegheny Community Center,” Wilson said.

Starting at $3.50/week.
