First Lutheran herb garden ready for harvest

Photo provided to the Times Observer It’s harvest time for the herb garden at First Lutheran Church in Warren. The garden is open to the public and those looking for fresh herbs are encouraged to stop and cut some. If you grow it, they will come.

That’s what First Lutheran Church is hoping, at least.

This year marks the fifth year that the church, located at 109 W. Third Ave. in Warren, has grown an herb garden adjacent to its main parking lot.

It’s harvest time.

And the garden is open to the public.

Penny Lester told the Times Observer that the garden is maintained by the Stewardship Committee as part of its “God’s Work, Our Hands” outreach.

“As autumn approaches, the herbs – dill, oregano, basil, parsley, sage, chives and more – are plentiful,” Lester said. “Our garden is overflowing!”

Lester encouraged users “to stop by and cut herbs before the snow flies.”

Starting at $3.50/week.
