Warren County School District approves budget
Warren County School District approved a budget with no tax increases for next year.
The district’s expenditures rose by almost $3.5 million compared to last year, bringing that line to $96.7 million. Revenues are expected to be almost $93.4 million. The local portion of that revenue is $28.3 million – or 30 percent of the total.
The millage rate remains 55.8371 after the board asked administration in May to present a proposal with no tax increase.
The board approved the expenditure of $1.8 million of the district’s committed fund balance to bring the deficit to $1.57 million.
The budget indicates the district should have a fund balance of about $16 million at the end of the 2023-2024 year.
According to the budget document, the district expects to have an enrollment of 3,859 for the coming school year. That is 52 fewer students than in 2022-2023 – a reduction of about 1.3 percent.
