Less than a week remains until petition deadline

One week remains for potential candidates to file petitions in order to get on the ballot for this year’s municipal election.

“There are openings for supervisors, auditors and constables in almost every precinct that still remain without a candidate as of yet,” Elections Director Krystle Ransom said.

At the county level, the commissioners, treasurer, register and recorder, sheriff and auditors are all up this year as well as two district judges.

Two-thirds of the Warren County School District board is also up for election. Several state-wide judgeships will also appear on the ballot.

Ransom said the deadline to file petitions is March 7 at 4:30 p.m.

A running list shows two candidates have filed at this point for commissioner — Dan Glotz and Tricia Durbin. Scott Neiswonger is first to file in the race for sheriff and school board candidates include John Wortman, Donna Zariczny and Tammi Holden.

A majority of municipal offices — including three seats on city council — have no candidates at this stage in the process.

“I encourage the municipalities to get interested constituents on the ballot rather than doing write-ins or waiting until the fall,” Ransom said. “Getting just ten signatures ensures their name is on the ballot in May, and there are no filing fees for supervisors or auditors.”

Starting at $4.00/week.
