The event benefits the Warren General Hospital Cancer Care Center.

The big event is coming on Sunday and there is sure to be a local winner.

The SOUPer Bowl will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 5, at the Warren Eagles Club — 313 Aerie — 2101 Pennsylvania Ave. E., Warren.

The event will feature a line-up of soups from local establishments — Wicked Warren’s, Forester Restaurant and Tavern, Train Station, Pub 302 and Eatery, Wendy’s Cafe, Ribs ‘n Bones, Ida Mae’s, Shaw House, Mama Jane’s Eatery, Huey’s Place, and The Bucket Cafe.

Coffee will be provided by Tim Horton’s.

The soup providers will be competing for People’s Choice Awards.

The event is open to the public. For a $10 ticket — with proceeds to benefit the Warren General Hospital Cancer Care Center — participants receive unlimited soup samples, coffee, music by DJ Dave, and a chance to win a $50 Kwik Fill gift card.

Tickets are available at the door or pre-sale by calling the Eagles Club at (814) 726-1172.

There will be raffles, auctions, and other fund-raisers at the event.

The event sponsors are United Refining Company and Lilly Broadcasting.

“One hundred percent of monies raised benefits the cancer unit for the Versa HD accelerator equipment used to detect tumors — precisely outlining their size, shape, and motion, minimizing radiation treatments from 20 to 30 sessions to one to five,” Event Coordinator Connie Leasure said. “What a great way to bring our community together to fight cancer, enjoy the best soups in the area, and take a chance to win some great prizes.”

“I am deeply grateful and humbled by all the support and donations received from so many,” Leasure said.

“Warren General Hospital Cancer Center is extremely grateful for this event,” Digital Media Marketing Manager Mary Ridout said.

“The Versa HD Linear Accelerator allows WGH to offer state-of-the-art cancer care treatment usually found exclusively on large medical hospital campuses,” Ridout said. “We are extremely proud of our Cancer Center and its services to Warren County and surrounding areas. Our Cancer Center offers high-level providers and technology to allow patients to stay close to home and be treated by people they know.”

Starting at $3.50/week.
