Cub Scouts in Warren recently made Christmas cards for residents of Warren Manor.

Pack 13 in North Warren was given the task of making cards during its November meeting. The number of cards totaled about 30 from the scouts, and a few members went to Warren Manor together to make the delivery. The cards were accepted by Leslie Fleming at the facility, cub master Brian Salapek said.

Salapek said Cub Scouts are required to do community service projects each year and those community service projects can vary.

“Part of being a Cub Scout is community service and this is one of the activities that we do for the community,” he said. “All the cards were hand-drawn by the Scouts and featured everything from Santa and his reindeer, to the Grinch, and even Anna and Elsa from Frozen.”

In 2018, the Boy Scouts of America extended to include girls in their program, and the North Warren pack is made up of both boys and girls, including Salapek’s daughter, Averyanna Salapek, and Lilyanna Berkhous, who helped to deliver the cards.

Cub Scouts are for children in kindergarten through fifth grade. Salapek said that all of the kids iin Pack 13 enjoy arts and crafts and he hopes to be able to do Christmas cards again next year.

“This is an activity that I would like to plan for every year because it is easy to include even our youngest scouts — lion scouts are kindergarten age — and they all love arts and crafts,” Salapek said.

Starting at $3.50/week.
