The city’s Blighted Property Review Committee struck two properties from its list during a Thursday meeting.
One is the former East Street School on Third Avenue.
“The building is down,” Director of Codes and Planning Randy Rossey said. “The lot has been leveled.”
Authority member Doug Hearn asked about the future of the lot.
“He’s not sure yet,” Rossey said of the owner’s intentions, noting that there have been a couple offers and some inquiries.
“(He is) waiting to see what transpires in the spring,” he added, as well as keeping an eye on any changes to the city’s zoning ordinance that might affect the parcel.
A property at 21 Glade Ave. was also removed.
Zoning and Ordinance Official Scott Staylor said the property has sat since a 2006 fire. But substantial progress has been made and Rossey said removing the property would “allow him to continue with his rehab.”
The committee also spoke with the owner 820 Carbon Place.
Taylor told the committee there haven’t been “many changes” to the property though a permit for rehabilitation has been issued.
The owner, John Arndt, said he would like to see the property ready to be occupied by the spring.
As a result, blight declaration action against the property was tabled until March.
