WPC signs off on comprehensive draft plan

The Warren Planning Commission has recommended a draft comprehensive plan to the Warren City Council.

According to Randy Rossey, the city’s director of Codes and Planning, the plan will go before council next Month.

Initial council action will trigger a 45-day public comment period, according to Brandi Rosselli, the consultant with Mackin Engineering overseeing the project.

The plan, she said, would also be disseminated to the county, school district and adjacent municipalities for review.

Rossey said the plan, once released, would be on the city’s website and Facebook and potentially other locations downtown.

Commission member Michael Lyon said plans are “usually full of fluff and hard to read” but said this was not that.

“It’s easy to understand,” he said.

“I think we’ve had some really great feedback from the public,” Planning Commission Chair Angie Dart said. “I think we had a really great turnout and really great feedback from the community at-large.”

Commission member Randy Gustafson said his focus is on “what we’re going to do as a result” of the plan.

“(There will be) quite a bit of it in our hands to get it accomplished,” Dart added, calling the plan a “great step for the future.”

Rossey said the goal would be to review the plan bimonthly or quarterly moving forward.

“I would like to thank you for all your hard work,” he told the commission. “(The) plan wouldn’t be as well thought out had it not been for your participation.”

Starting at $3.50/week.
