A Grand Valley man pleaded guilty Monday for his role in an alleged race-related altercation at the Warren County Courthouse.

Arthur T. Johnson, 29, entered the plea to counts of harassment and disorderly conduct before President Judge Maureen Skerda. Charges of ethnic intimidation and an additional count of disorderly conduct were not prosecuted.

The incident occurred back in February.

In detailing the charges, Skerda said that Johnson directed threatening language at an African-American sheriff’s deputy. She presented four different statements that Johnson is alleged to have made, each which included a racist slur and other obscene language.

Skerda said he also made aggressive movements to another sheriff’s deputy while in the courthouse parking lot.

Others guilty pleas entered include the following:

¯ Amber L. Albaugh, 35, Warren, to unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. Charges of burglary, criminal trespass and theft by unlawful taking were not prosecuted.

¯ Lawrence J. Gray, 30, Jamestown, NY, to two counts of retail theft.

¯ Kevin W. Nyberg, 59, Warren, to DUI and driving on a suspended license while charges of DUI and accident involving damage to unattended vehicle or property were not prosecuted. At a second docket, Nyberg pleaded guilty to DUI and driving on a suspended license while a count of DUI was not prosecuted.

¯ Cassie L. Tucker, 31, Warren, no contest to two counts of disorderly conduct and guilty to two counts of retail theft. Charges of indecent exposure and theft by unlawful taking were not prosecuted.

Not guilty pleas were entered by the following defendants:

¯ Brian Bean, 43, Warren. He has been charged with driving on a suspended license as well as 16 traffic offenses at one docket and, at a second, charges of false identification to law enforcement, driving on a suspended license and a traffic violation.

¯ William Dale, 60, Warren. He has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child, conspiracy — endangering the welfare of a child, driving on a suspended license and a seat belt violation.
