The Wild Wind Folk Art & Craft Festival is inviting the public to its 42nd annual event scheduled for Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day at the Warren County Fairgrounds.

As the leaves begin to reveal their colors and the night air turns crisp, Wild Wind’s artisans travel from near and far to usher in the fall season with a one-of-a-kind display of artistic talent.

More than 150 juried craftsmen come together to share exhibits of folk art, handmade collectibles, period reproductions, fine art, and traditional American crafts.

With its pastoral setting, the fairgrounds are a picturesque background for artisans to showcase their wares in open air barns and surrounding outdoor areas under tents. A marketplace full of superior artistic quality beckons visitors to take their time at each exhibit. Whether you are getting an early start on holiday shopping or searching for a one-of-a-kind collector’s piece, treasures are sure to be discovered.

This year’s event promises to be another captivating one with returning artists as well as a diverse selection of many new crafters. A seasoned favorite, fine art painter and fabric artist.

Ellen Parquette specializes in painting animal portraits inspired by the natural world, mythology, and folklore. Her work not only shares a tale but also enhances the unique personalities of the animals she portrays.

Another longtime Wild Wind artisan is potter Joy Ingram. A “maker of useful things,” she strives to create items that are “functional and feel comfortable in the hand.” Whether the coffee mug that is used each morning or the bowl that carries a favorite dish to family gatherings, she is honored to be a part of people’s everyday lives through her art.

In addition to offering a showcase of handcrafted art, Wild Wind is proud to honor the value of time spent with family and friends. Children can delight in the ever popular traveling petting zoo, face painting, balloon artistry, and more.

Another favorite is the Tamarack Wildlife Center with its birds of prey exhibit and lectures. New this year, teams of oxen and their 4-H trainers will be stationed throughout the festival. Visitors are encouraged to ask questions about these magnificent animals.

Demonstrations will take place as well. Of special interest, Wild Wind welcomes chainsaw carver, Brian Fox. A custom sawmiller by trade, Fox’s interest in carving began in 2019. After studying with other carvers to hone his skills, he now awes audiences with his talents at 30 shows a year. Using white pine, Fox chainsaws a variety of creations, from owls, bears, and turtles to custom signs and benches. Both his carvings and his talents with a chainsaw will be on display throughout the weekend. Visitors are encouraged to spend time watching the action.

The festival also announced the return of Alexander the Magician, who plans to delight children and adults alike with a new twist on his unique blend of humor and enchantment. Having fascinated multitudes from all over the globe, he plans to capture Wild Wind’s guests with the wonder of his magic on both Saturday and Sunday, with four shows scheduled each day.

When it comes time to take a break from all of the show’s sights, a shaded picnic area is the perfect retreat. Here, guests can choose from a wide assortment of delectable foods, grab an ice cold root beer, and join friends for conversation and live music. On deck this year to add to the ambiance is Stephen Eng and Old Dawg Bluegrass Band on Saturday. Sunday, Warren County’s band Temple Grey is set to add to the entertainment and toe-tapping.

Of special note, the festival is proud to host the return of the Department of Veterans Affairs. A mobile Vet Center will be on site to provide readjustment counseling and information resources to Veterans, service members, and their families. Anyone interested is encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity.

The Wild Wind Folk Art & Craft Festival welcomes attendees to make a treasured memory by joining them for the day – or the whole weekend – to enjoy award-winning artistry and family fun, rain or shine.
