Society Trails of History Challenge underway

The historic nature of the community is often touted as one of the strategic benefits.

The Warren County Historical Society has put together a way to explore that nature scavenger hunt style.

It’s the second year for the Society’s Trails of History Challenge.

The challenge will take participants, at their own pace, to 12 historic locations throughout the county. Last year’s event was so successful that the 2022 event highlights all new locations.

“When people sign up for the Trails of History Challenge, they can expect to uncover hidden treasures all around the county by finding answers to clues about local landmarks, notable structures and historic tales,” Event Coordinator Laura McDonald said. “It’s a family friendly, summer-long event and there is a chance to win a Warren County-themed prize basket.”

The cost is $10 and those that complete the challenge by Labor Day will be entered for that prize drawing.

Registrants will receive a clue packet, instructions, a decal and a mug provided by Whirley DrinkWorks.

The clues will get you to the location and there will be a question to answer about the site once you arrive.

“We are hoping that people will venture out and enjoy the fantastic sites and historic landmarks that Warren County has to offer,” Managing Director Michelle Gray said. “The trail is designed to push people to all four corners of the county and discover things that they were not aware existed.

Registration is available at the Society’s Fourth Ave. office from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Starting at $3.50/week.
