Municipalities receive reallocated Rescue Plan funds

All of Warren County’s 27 municipalities have received a reallocation of American Rescue Plan Act funding.

The allocations range from $15 to $1,500.

State treasury officials made the announcement this week.

According to a statement, the funds were “unclaimed from last year’s first round of payments under the American Rescue Plan Act’s Coronavirus Local Fiscal Recovery program.”

The amount distributed this month totals $1.5 million statewide.

“About 75 municipalities didn’t apply for ARPA local recovery funds last year,” Treasurer Stacy Garrity said.

“The funds they would have received are now being distributed to the thousands of municipalities which did apply and received funding in round one. Local officials can put these additional dollars to good use as their communities continue to rebound from the impact of the pandemic.”

Here’s a look at what municipalities in Warren County received: Bear Lake Borough. $25.62; Brokenstraw Twp., $294.04; Cherry Grove Twp., $33.92; City of Warren, $1,497.32; Clarendon Borough, $70.16; Columbus Twp., $316.21; Conewango Twp., $552.50; Deerfield Twp., $52.29; Eldred Twp., $100.60; Elk Twp., $81.08; Farmington Twp., $198.40; Freehold Twp., $235.63; Glade Twp., $357.74; Limestone Twp., $61.22; Mead Twp., $215.11; Pine Grove Twp., $417.97; Pittsfield Twp., $222.39; Pleasant Twp., $379.92; Sheffield Twp., $327.63; Southwest Twp., $81.91; Spring Creek Twp., $130.39; Sugar Grove Borough, $94.81; Sugar Grove Twp., $274.51; Tidioute Borough, $106.07; Triumph Twp., $48.32; Watson Twp., $42.36 and Youngsville Borough, $266.73

According to Garrity, the funds can be used for infrastructure – water, sewer, internet – supporting public health, helping entities recover from economic impacts, assisting essential workers and replacing lost revenue.

“The reallocation payments made on Friday are relatively small; the largest was $8,262.81. However, a second full round of payments – totaling about $490 million – will take place later this summer,” according to the statement.
