Organization working to provide gifts to local children

The Salvation Army is working to make sure local children have gifts under the tree on Saturday.

The Angel Tree season is coming to its big day, but there is still work to do.

“We start in September with our Angel Tree and Bundle-Up programs,” Major Keith Jache said.

The Bundle-Up Program provides winter clothing for people under 18 and over 62. “We had over 100 people for that program,” Jache said.

Typically, requests for the Angel Tree run through November. Children list the kinds of things they would like.

Sometimes, Salvation Army personnel purchase toys that match the lists. In some cases, toys crafted by volunteers at the Toy Shoppe match the list.

There is a room full of bags of toys at the church.

Sometimes, requests come in late. If the Salvation Army can help, it does.

Starting at $3.50/week.
