Warren officer, probation chief recognized

A Warren County police officer and the county’s long-time probation chief have been recognized for making positive impacts in their communities.

At the 42nd PA DUI Annual Conference Oct. 27 and 28 in Lancaster, Conewango Township Police Officer Jason Woodin, who is also a part-time officer with Youngsville Borough Police, received the Top Gun Award.

The Top Gun Award “is given to local and state police across the commonwealth who have made several DUI arrests in their respective areas and made a big impact on highway safety,” Youngsville Borough Police Chief Todd Mineweaser said. “I believe Officer Woodin is the first local officer to be given this award in Warren County.”

Retired Warren County Adult Probation Department Chief “Carl McKee was awarded the Staff Choice Award for a person or organization that provides exemplary support to the Pennsylvania DUI Association,” Mineweaser said.

The awards are not given out all over — there isn’t one winner from each county.

“Many state troopers and local law enforcement attend annually,” Mineweaser said. “Four different awards were given and Warren County took home two of the four. Tells me we have some very valuable service providers in our area.”
