STREAM Girls event planned for September

Stream girls are invited to a two-day event at Chapman State Park on Saturday, Sept. 11, and Sunday, Sept 12.

“Girls ages 11 to 14 are invited to join Chapman State Park and Trout Unlimited Cornplanter Chapter for a weekend of exploring a stream, sampling aquatic bugs, fly tying, and fishing, plus many other activities,” according to a release from Chapman Environmental Education Specialist Jen Moore.

“STREAM Girls is Trout Unlimited’s Watershed STEM program that builds confidence and breaks down barriers in science and the outdoors,” Moore said. “Through the eyes of a scientist, artist, and angler, girls make a personal connection to their home waters.”

There is no cost to attend the two-day program and all meals and materials are provided. It runs from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday then 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

“All participants will receive a patch, certificate, water bottle, string bag, sunglasses, and more,” Moore said.

Registration is required by 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 3, by contacting Moore at (814) 723-0259 or jennmoore@pa.gov.

The program is limited to 12 participants.
