COVID cases continue to rise in Warren County
Warren County’s COVID-19 numbers continue to rise and its transmission rate is “high,” according to the CDC.
Over the past five days, there have been 37 new cases reported locally — 13 on Saturday, none on Sunday, none on Monday, eight on Tuesday, and 16 on Wednesday.
During that stretch, the county surpassed 7,000 cases per 100,000 residents — the number stood at 7,052.6 as of Wednesday’s reporting.
Of the 2,764 total cases in the county to date, 2,101 have been confirmed and 663 are probables.
The department reported that there had been 16 COVID-positive cases at Warren General Hospital over the past week.
According to the CDC, every county in Pennsylvania is in one of the two highest transmission categories, with 55 of 67 having high community transmission. Two of the 12 counties in the substantial category — McKean and Forest — share a border with Warren County.
Vaccination of county residents continues to rise slowly. In the past five days, 112 more residents have been fully vaccinated and 145 received first doses, bringing the totals to 14,364 full vaccinations and 2,331 who have been partially vaccinated.
This week, the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine was the first to receive full approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
