Warren County is seeking bids for repairs to several rough sections of the Warren Bike-Hike Trail.
“The Commissioners have been getting complaints regarding the bad spots along the first mile of the trail,” County Planner Dan Glotz said.
The work will focus on the stretch between the terminus of East Street in the city and the intersection with South State Street in North Warren.
“There are roughly eight sections that will be milled and overlayed,” Glotz said. That simply means repaving. “The project also includes a couple of sluice replacements” as well as the sealing of a concrete bunker.
He said engineer estimates place the cost of the project at around $70,000 and that Act 13 funds — monies generated from impact fees on unconventional shale gas development — will be used to cover the cost.

“It is our hope to complete the project this fall,” Glotz said. “I can’t be certain, at this point, but (the work) shouldn’t take too long.”
It’s possible that the trail may need to be closed for safety reasons while the work is being completed.
The commissioners are accepting bids at the work session scheduled for July 26, according to a legal notice published on the project.
