‘More voices’ sought for comprehensive plan
City of Warren Planning Director Vince DeJoy, and planning commission members Don Nelson and Angie Dart discuss recruiting interested community members to join the steering committee for the city’s comprehensive plan process.
A comprehensive plan sets the stage for the future of a community.
It should involve the community.
The plan establishes guides for land use that will impact public and private development. It should involve people from the public and private sectors.
While the plan is technically the work of the appointed planning commission, the City of Warren is looking to establish a steering committee to help advise the commission through the development process.
“We as a city and planning commission will be asking for input for the comprehensive plan,” City of Warren Planning Director Vince DeJoy said. “We need more voices.”
A collaborative training meeting on Wednesday encouraged leaders to “seek more diversity as we listen to more voices to help plan for the future,” he said. “We will need a robust steering committee made up with our resident citizens whose voice we need to hear as we are planning for the future.”
The city is putting out a call to people interested in having “a say in what can go into the new City of Warren Comprehensive Plan,” he said.
City residents interested in participating in the comprehensive plan process may contact DeJoy at (814) 723-6300 ext. 143.
There are other ways to become involved. The city is frequently looking for volunteers to serve on boards, committees, and commissions. Those interested may visit www.cityofwarrenpa.gov/boards
