Kayaker rescued
A man fishing on the Allegheny River was rescued Sunday after his kayak overturned.
A water rescue crew from Glade Volunteer Fire Department picked up the man just east of Betts Park.
The call went out at about 6:30 p.m. in the area of Driftwood Drive in Pleasant Township.
According to officials, the man drifted into a strainer, knocking him off the kayak.
The crew brought the man and his kayak safely back to the boat launch shortly after 7 p.m.
Glade rescue personnel urged those who are recreating on the river and other waterways to wear personal flotation devices.
