Wildfires said to be contained

The two Warren County wildfires that grew to over 200 acres each through the weekend have been contained.

“Both the Cobham fire and the Hemlock fire were declared 100 percent contained,” said Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources Cornplanter District Manager Cecile Stelter. “We are very confident there is no chance of anything escaping.”

Still, firefighters will be looking in on conditions from time to time to evaluate the locations, especially as conditions change.

“We welcome the rain and a little bit of a break,” Stelter said.

Officials are investigating the causes of the fires.

They also ask that residents not burn debris when conditions are right for wildfires and take precautions any time they burn.
