More than 7K fully vaccinated against COVID

The number of new COVID-19 cases per day in Warren County remains elevated, compared to March, but nothing close to the counts from December.

There have been less than eight new cases per day on average — 180 cases over 23 days — in April and about six per day over the past week, according to data from the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

A few days when the results were unusually high have brought the average up. There have been five days this month with more than 10 new cases, including one of over 20.

In all, 2,464 county residents have contracted COVID.

According to the department’s latest release, there was one COVID-positive patient who was not on a ventilator nor in intensive care.

There have been 101 COVID-related deaths in the county to date, including two in April.

Vaccination numbers continue to rise. According to the department, more than 7,000 county residents were fully vaccinated as of Thursday, with another 5,560 having received one of two shots.

In neighboring Chautauqua County, 14 new cases were reported Friday. To date there have been 8,822 total confirmed cases, 8,521 recoveries and 147 virus-related deaths. There are currently 154 active cases, 505 in quarantine and a seven-day positivity rate of 2.3%.
