Groups joining forces to raise food, money for churches, food banks
Northwest Bank, Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest Pennsylvania and Lilly Broadcasting, WICU and WSEE, are working together to raise donations of food and money to benefit local churches and food banks across Warren County.
The fundraiser will take place from 6 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 18. Donations of non-perishable food items such as canned and boxed goods as well as frozen turkeys will be accepted.
Jennie Miller, manager of Northwest’s Warren West Side office and spokesperson for the event, said that businesses and residents can drop off their cash and food donations on Liberty Street between Pennsylvania and Second Avenues. Volunteers will be on site and Lilly Broadcasting will broadcast live from location.
Cash and check donations can also be dropped off at any Northwest office in Sheffield, Tidioute, Warren or Youngsville from now until November 18.
Donations will benefit the First Church of the Nazarene Food Pantry, St. Joseph Church, Sheffield Area Food Pantry and the Youngsville Evangelical United Methodist Church.
“Last year, our totals in Warren were $7,030.78 in monetary donations, 1765 pounds of non-perishable items and 48 frozen turkeys,” noted Miller. “We would love to surpass that this year. Since 2005, we’ve managed to raise almost $28,000 and over 25,000 pounds of food.”
