The Library Angel Tree is filled with ornaments listing basic items (and their cost) that are vital to the survival of the library, everything from stamps to DVDs to copy paper and even general donations toward every day operating expenses. Community members are encouraged to take an ornament from the tree and make a donation at the circulation desk. “This annual fundraising event was started by the library Friends in 2009 in response to the wave of cuts in state and county support,” said library Director, Kristy Wallace, “and has become yet another way for our library to try to counteract a portion of the over $11,000 loss in income that we have been experiencing on a yearly basis. We are truly grateful for all our ‘Angels’ who support us every year.”

To become a Library Angel just stop by the Youngsville Library during business hours or you can mail a general Library Angel donation to Youngsville Public library c/o Library Angel Program, 100 Broad St., Youngsville, PA 16371. It is a great time to visit with friends.

“This event is truly our gift for our whole community. It is a whole group effort.” said Lisa Hagberg, Borough of Youngsville manager, who is chairing the Hometown Christmas event this year. “It is a community Christmas event open to anyone who is willing to help give our families things to do, and it will have a little bit of everything, such that ages 2 to 92 can all find something they like.”

Shops in the downtown, such as the Allegheny Artistry, are holding open houses which include Mrs. Claus reading children’s books, and more.

Area restaurants, taverns, and our cafe invite family and friends to stop in for food and drinks. Plus, there is food in the streets with vendors from Love INC, the Masons, Brokenstraw Valley Swimming Pool Friends and others.

At 6 p.m. the Christmas parade starts from Kozy Korner Laundry Mat parking lot, 11 N. Main Street, and goes down E. Main Street towards Church Street.
