Fishing Registration

Registration can be done any time prior to registering your first fish to the scales. Registrations can be found in our publication, our brochure, our website (www.pascft.org) or our Facebook group. Volunteers will be on grounds starting Thursday morning to accept registrations.

Remember that registration is free, though donations are accepted and appreciated.

Carnival Presale Tickets

Currently on sale at Buccardo’s Restaurant, King Building Supply and Evan’s Market, presale tickets are $12 each, and are good for one full day of riding.

Ride wristbands will be available for purchase for $15. per day of riding. Each purchase will enter your child in a contest to win a bicycle. Presale tickets will be on sale until 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28. See any of the local businesses listed above or contact Dan Gazalie at (814) 730-5559 to purchase. The carnival is provided by Trover Amusement of Gibsonton, Fla.

Craft Show

A craft and vendor show will be held at the Tidioute Fire Hall from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; still looking for vendors for this event. Contact Rita Adams at (814) 484-7310, or Terri Fike at (814) 484-3091 for more information.

Parade

This year’s theme is “Go Outside and Play!” Registrations for the parade can be done in advance or on the morning of the parade. Registration starts at 9 a.m. at the Tidioute Fire Hall. The Lineup starts at 11 a.m., and float judging begins at noon.

The parade will begin at 1 p.m. sharp.

Kids Derby

The Kids Derby will be held Saturday, Sept. 29, at Benner Park (Tidioute Creek Road in Tidioute) from 9 to 11 a.m. Kids ages 3 to 10 are eligible to participate. This event is organized by The Tidioute Lions Club and The Pennsylvania State Championship Fishing Tournament.

Grand Prize Drawings

The Fishing Tournament will hold grand prize drawings during closing ceremonies on Sunday, Sept. 30, starting at approximately 3 p.m. This year’s grand prize drawing for the first raffle is $300 in PA lottery tickets.

The second grand prize drawing will be a 50/50. Winners need not be present to win either prize.

Tickets will be available for sale all of fishing tournament weekend on grounds or by contacting any committee member.

9/11 Assembly at TCCS

The Tidioute Community Charter School held an assembly for all students on 9/11. The guest speaker was Steve Golla. Golla is a U.S. Navy veteran, EMT, firefighter, and chief of operations at Fayette County Search and Rescue. He discussed the impact of 9/11 and why it remains an important event in our history. We came together as a nation during this tragedy and he spoke about the patriotism of our country. TCCS had a moment of silence for those who lost their lives in this event.

TCCS students Jenna Hunt and Senora Henderson organized this event with the guidance of teachers Kelley McKean and Mike Patterson. Shawn Silvis was an EMT representative from the community.

Tidioute Borough Council

“Tidioute Borough would like to welcome police officer Chelsea Ishman to our staff.” She was introduced at Monday night’s council meeting. An article appeared on page A-1 of Friday’s Times Observer.

Little League fundraiser

Beef sticks of all flavors are once again available for sale in the borough office — benefiting the Tidioute Little League.

Author pens book with Tidioute references

Warren County resident and author Judy Sharer has written a historical romance titled “Settler’s Life, Hold on to your dreams.” The book is the first in a family saga series titled, “A Plains Life.”

Book one follows a family from Tidioute in 1854.

Sharer, will hold a book signing at the Tidioute Public Library from 6 to 7 p.m. October 3, following a reading at 5:30 pm.

Pierogi booth

The St. John Church will have its pierogi booth open during this year’s fishing tournament held September 27-30. To preorder homemade frozen potatoe and cheese pierogis, call Fran at (814) 484-7157. They are $10 per dozen, or $6 per half dozen.
