Thursday, March 9 will be Italian Meatball Hoagie with sauce and cheese, seasoned new potatoes, mixed bean medley, hoagie bun, tapioca pudding.

VITA Taxes

VITA Site volunteers will be at the Tidioute Senior Center on Thursday, February 16 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to assist those who need help with filing their State and Federal taxes, also rent and property tax rebates.

Please bring last year’s tax return, photo ID, social security cards for everyone on the return. And all forms of income, medical bills and medical insurance premiums, charitable contribution receipts, property tax receipts and mortgage statement from bank.

If filing joint returns, both people need to be present at the appointment.

To set up an appointment please call the center at 484-3020 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Snow Tubing

Tidioute Community Charter School PTO is planning a day at Peek N’ Peak to go snow tubing on Saturday, February 18.

The group will be leaving TCCS at 12:30 and arrive back around 6:30 p.m.

Tidioute Lion’s Club has graciously donated part of the money for the bus to the Peak. It will be a first come, first serve for the bus.

Cost is $15 per person for three hours of tubing. Tube 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Students can bring lunch or they can purchase food at the lodge.

Chicken and Biscuits Dinner

Members of the Chapel at the Creek Church will be hosting a Chicken and Biscuits dinner on Saturday, February 18 at the Tidioute Firehall social hall.

Doors open at 3 p.m. Dine in or take out.

Sweet Heart Dance

Tidioute Community Charter School PTO is hosting a Sweetheart Dance on Friday, February 24, 2017 with music provided by the Bubble Gum DJ from 6 p.m. t o 8 p.m.

This is a semi-formal in the school cafeteria for grades K4 to grade 6.

Admission is $5.00 for a student and their adult guest.

Light refreshments will be served.

Boys bring their Moms and Girls bring their Dads or a favorite adult to the event.

VFW Auxiliary

VFW Auxiliary members will meet on Saturday, February 25 at 9:30 a.m. for their regular monthly meeting.

14th Chili Cook-off

The 14th Annual Chili Cook off at Tippy Canoe will be held on Sunday, February 26 at 1 p.m.

Fire Department Meeting

Members of the Tidioute Area Volunteer Fire Department will hold their regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, February 28 at 6:30 p.m.

Benefit for Lou Fratrich

Friends of the Tidioute Community Charter School will hold a Cancer Benefit for Lou Fratrich at the Tidioute Fire Hall on Saturday, March 4, 2017

Lou has been a teacher at Tidioute Community Charter School since 2008 and has been part of the TCCS team as a teacher and administration. Lou was recently diagnosed with esophageal cancer and has under gone extensive surgery. He will be off work for several months recovering from the surgery.

A benefit will be held in his honor to help raise money to cover travel and hotel cost while he is going back and forth to Pittsburgh.

The benefit will be on Saturday, March 4 from 7 p.m. t o 11 p.m.

There will be a DJ for dancing, basket raffles, small games of chance and light refreshment.

It is BYOB

Admission to the benefit is $10. There will also be a separate raffle for a 40 inch TV tickets will be $3 each or 4 for $10 and the drawing will be done at the benefit. Winner need not be present to win.

Soup Dinners

Tidioute Presbyterian Women’s Association will be holding three soup dinners at the Presbyterian Church.

The first one will be on Tuesday, March 7 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Soups will be Chicken with wild rice, stuffed pepper, and chili.

The second one will be on Tuesday, March 21 from 4 p.m. t o6 p.m. and the Third one will be on Tuesday, April 4 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

There will be at least three varieties each time. And will be served with crackers or bread, salad and dessert.

Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy a good dinner of soup and salad.

Donations for the meals are accepted at the door.

100 Days Celebration

Tidioute Community Charter School students celebrated 100 days of school.

K-4 students received certificates that said, “I’m 100 Days Smarter”.

Students participating were Trent Drukenbrod, Kaden Silva, Ethan Manning, Carter McDonald, Mia Buccardo, Vallon Vullo, Meadow Sheckler, Aiden Jones, Kaleb Lindsay, Zander Fehlman and Lily Sutton. K-4 teacher is Monica Morgan.

3rd Annual Pub Crawl

TATA Pub Crawl will be on Saturday, March 18, 2017.

There will be a dinner at 4 p.m. at Tidioute Firehall and from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. you do the Pub Crawl. At 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. there will be an after Party at the firehall featuring “Smokin 45”.

Cost is $25 for all the events, $15 for t-shirt only and $10 to come listen to the Band only.

Basketball Tournament

Tidioute Community Charter School Spanish Club will be hosting a Basketball Tournament to raise funds for their 2018 Trip to Spain.

This tournament will be on Friday, March 24 at 6:30 p.m.

The first game will be Alumni vs. Staff members. Second game will be high school girls vs. high school boys. Winners of game one and game two will take on each other in a free throw competition.

There will be food and beverages available for purchase, hoop shoot contests, and a 50/50 raffle.

Please come out and support our school staff, alumni, players and the Spanish Club.

Donations of Pop, Water, Gatorade, hot dogs, bus, and condiments along with individual sized bags of chips are being accepted.

Spring Fling

A “Spring Fling” will be held on Friday, March 31 at the Tidioute Community Charter School from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. for students in grades 7 to grade 12.

Admission is $3 a person and $5 a couple, “dressy-casual”.

Music by the Brown Boyz.

Light refreshment will be served.

VFW Chili Cook-off

VFW Post 8803 will host their Chili Cook off on Saturday, March 4.

This year they are adding a Pie Bake off.

VFW Auxiliary Auction

Members of the VFW Post 8803 will be holding a Basket Raffle/Chinese Auction on Saturday, March 4 in conjunction with the Chili Cook off/pie bake off.

Any items you wish to donate for this Auction/Raffle, please drop them off at the VFW Post before March 2, 2017.

Pennsylvania State Championship Fishing Tournament Committee members will have Bingo Games at Buccardo’s Restaurant in the banquet room on Sunday, March 5.

Doors open at 12 p.m. and the games begin at 1 p.m.

Proceeds benefit the upcoming tournament in September.

March Madness

AM Legion Post 0334 members are currently selling chances for a March Madness Raffle.

First place winner will receive a 55 inch Vizio 4k Ultra HD TV and second place winner will receive a 50 inch Vizio 4k Ultra HD TV.

Tickets are only $5 each and there are only 500 tickets being sold.

The drawing will take place on March 11, 2017 winner need not be present to win.

Proceeds benefit American Legion Post 0334.

Henry Golden Boy

Servicemen’s Home Corporation members are having a gun raffle for a Henry Golden Boy 22LR.

Tickets are $2 each and the drawing will be on March 20. Winner need not be present to win.

22nd Annual Tidioute Health Fair

The 22nd Annual Tidioute Health Fair will be held on Saturday, March 25 from 7 a.m. to 12 noon.

There will be comprehensive Blood Testing for a fee of $40 with additional testing of A1C for $10 and PSA for $17.

Appointment can be made by calling Linda Scott at 484-7525.

Free testing will also be done for body fat analysis, blood pressure, height, weight, BMI, diabetic foot evaluations, glaucoma screenings and pulse ox.

The comprehensive blood testing is a 12 hour fasting therefore the kitchen will be open with a light breakfast.

Blood Draws will be done by Warren General Hospital lab employees.

Pierogie Sales

St. John Church in Tidioute, Pa will be selling frozen pierogi as a fund raiser during Lent this year every Saturday from March 4 through April 8 rom 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. in St John Center.

They will be making potato and cheese and potato and sauerkraut pierogi.

Pre-order each week by Thursday to guarantee availability.

Walk-ins are also welcome.

New Borough Banners

Through the efforts of a fund raising, enough funds were raised to purchase the new borough banners.

The flag contest was started several years earlier in 2014 by then council member the late Kevin Bonner. The contest ended with a first , second and third winners and an honorable mention.

The new banners have the art work of Sara Aiello, former art teacher at Tidioute Community Charter School, who won the honorable mention in the flag contest, with the added wording of Welcome to Tidioute, PA. the banners are made of vinyl with a cream colored back ground and burgundy lettering, the Historic colors chosen for Tidioute. Her art work was selected to be used on the borough banners and as a borough logo.

First place winner was Kelley McKean, Second place winning art work was Hannah Reed, and Third place art work winner was Daniel Bonner.

Kelley McKean entered her art work of ” Logger on the River” a logger floating a log down the Allegheny River and her work received First Place and her work was selected for a borough flag. Do to no sponsors for the flag contest the borough flag project was tabled until the funds were raised for the banners and with extra donations that were received, monies were available for the borough flag.

With the help and work of Linda Scott a few changes were made, money was raised and the banners and flag were designed and finished.

At Monday night’s council meeting, Beth Bonner, wife of the late Kevin Bonner and first place art winner Kelley McKean were present when the banners and flag were presented to council by project chairperson Linda Scott.

The new banner logo has become the new LOGO for Tidioute Borough. This new logo will replace the old logo of Victorian Tidioute of the lady in the Victorian dress carrying an umbrella.

Tidioute will use the new logo to brand and promote Tidioute and our events. This logo is being copyrighted to be used only by Tidioute Borough.

We would like to thank all those who entered the contest and a big thank you to those who made the donations in Memory of or in Honor of family and loved ones.

A flag pole is being made and donated by Clare and Julie McAdams of Indiana, PA for the borough flag that will fly in front of the borough office.

A recognition plaque was presented to council by Linda Scott that has the names of those that donations were made for.

The Voyage

Tidioute Presbyterian Church Trip this June will be to visit the Ark Encounter and Creation Museum.

The travelers will leave the Presbyterian Church parking lot on Monday, June 19 and return on Tuesday, June 20, 2017.

Those wishing to make this trip should contact Judy Sabella at 484-3085.

Package includes: motor coach transportation, hotel-one night’s lodging, hot breakfast, admission to Creation Museum, admission to Ark Encounter, dinner, and tour director, liability insurance is available, all taxes and gratuities on included items is included. If time permits there will be some shopping.

Deposits of $100 per person is due March 1, 2017 and the balance is due by May 1, 2017.

Rooms are $359 for a single; $309 for a double; $295 for Triple; and $289 for Quad.

Borough Council

Tidioute Borough met on Monday night for their regular meeting.

Minutes of the January meeting were accepted as was the treasures report and permissions was granted to pay the bills.

Linda Scott presented her final report on the new borough banner and a borough flag to council and the project has now been borough to a close.

Then Scott presented the finished items to council and Beth Bonner and Kelley McKean. Bonner’s late husband Kevin started the flag contest and McKean was the winner of the first place in the flag contest.

The new banners will be put up as soon as the weather is warmer and the flag will go up in better weather when the flag pole arrives.

Mayor Pam McLaughlin is still working on getting the funds for a new vest for the police department.

Maintenance supervisor reported that they are keeping up with plowing and keeping and watch on the supply of winter materials.

The personnel policy was gone over again with the changes made and adopted.

A motion was made and approved to have the Office Manager was authorized to issue and “Notice for Immediate Removal of a Nuisance” for 3 Economy ST.

The borough council voted to sell the old banners for a cost of $10 each to anyone wanting one. If interested please contact the borough office at 484-7424.

Motion was made and accepted to pass Resolution #1 of 2017 to reaffirm that Tidioute Borough remains under Warren County Zoning Ordinance.

Also, a motion was made and passed Resolution #2 of 2017 to allocate the 2017 County Aid Liquid Fuels Tax funds to electric for street lighting.

Townwide Yard Sales for Tidioute will be Saturday, May 6.
