Tidioute Life

The tags are ready for the children of Tidioute and are located at Northwest Bank. Feel free to stop in and pick a tag or two and shop for the children. Unwrapped gifts are to be returned to the bank for distribution in time for Christmas.

This 526-pound field,dressed adult male bear was harvested in the Tionesta area on Saturday, Nov. 19 and was the 11th one weighted in. The bear check station is located in the truck bays at Tidioute Firehall. Lisa Winger of ASERA Care was at the Tidioute Senior Center to explain the services of Hospice.

Senior Center Menu

Thursday, November 24 the center will be closed for Thanksgiving.

Monday, November 28 will be Italian Meatball Hoagie with sauce and cheese, hoagie roll, seasoned new potatoes, mixed bean medley, tapioca pudding.

Tuesday, November 29 will be Pork Loin with gravy, scalloped potatoes, sweet peas and onions, dinner roll and fresh seasoned fruit.

Thursday, December 1 will be Chef Salad, noodle soup, wheat bread, sliced peaches.

Monday, December 5 will be Meatloaf with gravy, whipped potatoes, Italian beans, wheat bread, banana pudding fluff.

Tuesday, December 6 will be BBQ Chicken, Seasoned Red Potatoes, country vegetable blend, dinner roll, sugar cookie.

Thursday, December 8 will be Turkey and Swiss sandwich, cheesy broccoli soup, wheat bread, fresh seasonal fruit.

Be sure to call the center at 484-3020 to sign up at least two days prior to the day you want to eat there. Merla will be happy to assist you in getting signed up.

Thanksgiving Da

Dinner

There will be a Thanksgiving Day Dinner at the Tidioute Firehall on Thursday, Nov. 24 from 1 to 4 p.m.

Everyone is welcome.

This is a joint effort between the Tidioute fire department and Chapel at Tidioute Creek Church.

Borough Office Closed

Tidioute Borough office will be closed on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 24-25 for the Thanksgiving holiday. Reopen on Monday, Nov. 28.

Garbage Pick Up

This week the garbage pickup will be on Friday, Nov. 25 due to Thanksgiving.

Small Business

Saturday

Tidioute businesses will observe the  Small Business Saturday, on Saturday, Nov. 26  from 10 a.m. to  5 p.m.

Small Business Saturday is a special holiday created so communities can show love for small businesses like those in Tidioute.

Fall Gun Raffle

Tidioute Area Volunteer Fire Department will be hosting its annual Fall Gun Raffle on Saturday, Nov.26 at the firehall.

Doors open at  6 p.m. and the games begin at 7 p.m.

Purchasing a gun ticket also guarantees your entry to the raffle.  Tickets are $10 each and are on sale from the local firefighters and at Tidioute Trading  Post, Buccardo’s Restaurant and at the door the night of the gun raffle.

Senior Dinner Group

The senior dinner group guided by Ann Scott will have its last dinner of the season on Tuesday, Nov. 29 when members travel to Richards Restaurant.

Dinner trips will resume in March 2017.

Christmas In Tidioute

Come and join the town of Tidioute for a day of fun and festivities on Saturday, Dec. 3.

Experience Christmas in the Allegheny Mountains.

There will be activities as follows:

Craft Show at Buccardo’s in the Banquet Room as in the past  5 years, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Tidioute Library will have Story Time at 1:45 and Pictures with Santa from 2 to 4 p.m. Photos by Samantha Daelhousen Photos.

Hayrides throughout the day.

Craft Show at Firehall from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Shopping at merchants for those special gifts.

Dining at local restaurants.

Christmas Caroling

Ending with the Lighting of the Tidioute Bridge.

Be sure to stop in Tidioute and enjoy all the festivities the people have to offer.

Presbyterian Women’s

Members of the Presbyterian Women’s Association will be selling hot dogs at the Presbyterian Church on Saturday, Dec. 3 during the Christmas in Tidioute celebrations.

Sales will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. You have your choice of plain, kraut, or chili  dogs. Coffee and hot chocolate will also be available.

The church will be beautifully decorated for the Christmas Season.  Come visit and enjoy the beauty.

Senior Center Officers

Tidioute Senior Center held its monthly meeting to elect officers on Thursday, Nov. 10 and serving for the year 2017 will be: President-Karen Craft; Vice President-Martha Walters; Secretary- Faith Francis and Treasurer will be  Velma Bailor.  Ann Scott will be in charge of sending out cards.

New officers will take over January 2017.

Each day prior to lunch short announcements are done to keep those in attendance up to date on activities, birthdays, anniversaries and who is under the weather.

Banners and Buttons

Tidioute Borough Council approved the sales of buttons with the new logo on them for a cost of $3 each.

Also, council approved the donation in the amount of $35 each for the new banners that will be put up in the spring.

This design came from the contest that council held a while back.

Donations can be made payable to Tidioute Borough and mailed to 129 Main St, Tidioute, PA 16351 and mark the memo line for “new banners”.

Button sales can be made at the borough office, Buccardo’s Restaurant, Boondocks Antiques (Nov. 25-Nov. 27 and Dec.2,3, and 4) or by contacting Linda Scott.  All proceeds will go toward the cost of the new banners.

Your support for the community is greatly appreciated.

Bingo Bus Trip

The next Bingo Bus Trip traveling to Salamanca to Seneca Gaming and Entertaining for a fun day of Bingo  is scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 4.

The bus will leave Northwest Bank parking lot in Tidioute at 9 a.m. and return approximately 6 p.m.

There will be a stop at the Warren Mall about 9:30 a.m. to pick up more players.

Cost is only $20  which is non refundable per person and includes an incentive package.

Reservations and payments must be received by Nov. 22.

VFW Auxiliary

Breakfast

The annual VFW Auxiliary Christmas Breakfast will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 13 at 9:30 a.m. at the Tippy Canoe Inn.

There is a signup sheet at the bar. There is a $5 refundable deposit with sign up and the cutoff date to sign up is Dec. 5.

Anyone who would like to participate in a gift exchange can do so by bringing a $10 gift, participation in the gift exchange is strictly optional.

Christmas Cash Raffle

The American Legion Auxiliary Unit of Post 0334 of Tidioute, PA is holding a Christmas Cash Raffle.

Drawing to be held on Dec. 7.  Tickets are $5 each and will benefit the Auxiliary.

First prize is $500; Second prize is $250 and Third prize is $100.

Only 500 tickets will be sold.  Winner need not be present to win.

Members of the American Legion Post 0334 is holding a raffle of cash.

Tickets are only $5 each and the drawing will be on Dec. 2.

Prizes will be $500 for First place; Second place is for $250 and Third Place prize is for $250.

TIKKA 308

Servicemen’s Home Corporation members are currently selling tickets on a TIKKA T3 308 Cal. Gun with scope mounts and soft gun case.

Tickets are only $2 each and the drawing will be held on Dec. 19.

Bed Coverlet Raffle

St John Women’s Guild is selling chances on a Hand-Crocheted Queen Size Bed Coverlet-Cream Colored.

Tickets are only $ 1 each and the drawing will be on Dec. 18 in time for a nice Christmas present for that special person.

Winner need not be present to win.

Second Harvest

The next Second Harvest in Tidioute will be on Saturday, Dec. 10 at  10 a.m. at the Tidioute Firehall.

Bbring a couple of boxes or laundry baskets to transport your food items as boxes are limited.

Second Harvest is an equal opportunity provider.

Food is distributed on a first come, first serve basis and is for Warren County residents in need of food assistance.

There will be a Salvation Army Food Commodity on Dec. 19.

You must be signed up in advance in order to receive the food items.

Sign ups are with Russell Glenn at Tidioute Towers and the pickup will be in the Community Room at the towers. Use the entrance on the creek side of the building.

Pick up food is from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

VFW

There will be a signup sheet for New Years Eve for all VFW members on Dec. 5 and the sign up for all members will be out on Dec. 7.

Board of Directors will meet on Dec. 6 at 5 p.m.

Men’s Breakfast meeting will be on Dec. 11 at 8 a.m.

Servicemen’s

Home Corp

The Servicemen’s Home Corporation will be closed on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

Senior Center Program

Lisa Winger of ASERA Care was at the Tidioute Senior Center on Tuesday to present a program on Hospice Care.

Hospice is paid for by Medicare Part A including medication and to be eligible for hospice services a person must : Have a terminal prognosis with a life expectancy of six months or less of the terminal illness runs its normal course as certified by a physician. Be under the care of a physician. Choose supportive symptom management rather than aggressive curative care. Request Hospice Care.

Hospice may be the right choice for a patient suffering the effects of any disease in its final stages.

The Hospice Care Team depicts the holistic continuum of care rendered by hospice field and office professionals and trained volunteers working together as a team to assess and meet the patient’s and family’s unique end-of-life needs.

No School

Tidioute Community Charter School will be closed for Thanksgiving break starting Wednesday, Nov. 23 and will resume on Tuesday, Nov. 29.

Treasurer for Children Tags

The Tags are available at Northwest Bank in Tidioute for the Treasurers For Children program available through Salvation Army Tidioute Unit.

At this time the tags are on the bulletin board and once the Christmas Tree is put up next week they will be put on the tree. You can pick your tags at any time now and shop for the children of Tidioute.

Do not wrap the items, you may however, include wrapping paper if you wish.

These tags only have the age of the child, sex, and what they want for Christmas, names and identity are  only know by Jennifer who numbers the tags so she can match them up with the application and get them to the proper families.
