Holiday Lighting
For the past 66 years, the Holiday Lighting Committee has provided holiday decorations in our community, including the unique tradition of tying fresh greens maintaining the historic charms of Victorian Tidioute. This holiday cheer is made possible through the generous donations of community-minded citizens and businesses.
We typically incur costs of approximately $2,000 per year to maintain the holiday lighting displays. Last year, generous donations helped meet their goal of transitioning to LED lights for all lighting which included the wreaths for the streetlights and the 12 strands of lights for tying the greens. The majority of the donations allowed them to maintain Christmas decorations for the VFW, fire departments memorial, Picture Show Park, Tidioute Towers, Tidioute Borough Office, Tidioute Library, Tidioute Health and Dental Center/Darling Pharmacy, 22 planters and the 29 parking meters.
In addition to Christmas decorating they provide decorations for Picture Show Park for Memorial Day, 4th of July, fishing tournament, Halloween and Thanksgiving.
Without your generous support, none of this would have been possible.
They plan to replace the decorations at the Tidioute Library and the borough office this year. In addition, the Christmas Banners are over 15 years old. They are hoping to complete fundraising to enable us to replace the winter banner. The estimated cost of replacing those 20 banners is nearly $2,000.
A donation can be made by sending a check payable to Holiday Lighting Committee. Mail your donation to Nancy Schwab, 1 Scott Street, Tidioute, PA 16351
Volunteers are also needed to help Ty the greens on Friday, Nov. 15 at Tidioute Firehall.
