Assault on troopers lands man in prison

An Oil City man is headed to state prison in the wake of an assault on two state troopers that took place in Deerfield Township. Mitchell R. Bills, 40, was sentenced on aggravated assault and related offenses Friday by President Judge Maureen Skerda. According to the affidavit of probable cause, Pennsylvania State Police responded Aug. 4 to a report of a passed out male in a running vehicle on Route 27 in Deerfield Township. The following sentences were handed down by President Judge Maureen Skerda on Friday at the Warren County Courthouse. Jacob J. Disshon, 19, Sheffield, to six months probation including 72 hours incarceration, $1,425 in fines and fees, participation in the alcohol highway safety school and victim impact programs, a 12 month license suspension and 15 hours of community service on a count of DUI as well as $245 on a count of careless driving. Man facing charges for high-speed chase

A Kane man faces charges in Warren County after allegedly leading police on a high-speed chase in eastern Warren County. Matthew L. Simonds, 41, of Kane, is charged with fleeing or attempting to elude officer, DUI, possession of drug paraphernalia, and numerous summary driving violations. According to the affidavit of probable cause, at about 1:30 a.m. Friday, Simonds was driving a black SUV east on Route 6 near the Glade Bridge in Mead Township. Eldred Twp. Criminal mischief. Warren-based Pennsylvania State Police responded to a report at 2642 Eldred Center Road on May 17 at 5:22 p.m. A rock was thrown through the window of a residence causing an estimated $300 in damage.
