Parole check nets man drugs and firearms charges
A Saturday parole check at a Dahl Street residence uncovered more than a tenth of a pound of methamphetamine and marijuana as well as illegally owned firearms.
City of Warren police have filed charges against Christopher A. Cross, 39, 5 1/2 Dahl St. in the wake of the discovery from the random parole check.
Police say in the affidavit of probable cause that a State Parole agent requested assistance and told police he observed several hypodermic needles and suspected marijuana.
Cross agreed to speak with officers and allegedly detailed that he had 10 grams of methamphetamine in his safe. Police subsequently applied for a search warrant of the residence, two vehicles and an outbuilding.
Police detail finding two clear plastic bags with suspected methamphetamine weighing 9.6 grams, another weighing 19.9 grams, a ceramic skull containing 7.4 grams of methamphetamine as well as 18.8 grams of marijuana in a “brown Arby’s bag” all in an upstairs bedroom.
Officers say a rifle, handgun and ammunition were also discovered in the bedroom. Police allege that Cross “is a person not to possess a firearm” from a 2017 possession with intent to deliver conviction.
“Also located during the search (was) a purpose Crown Royal velvet bag,” police allege, “containing $1,600…. A blue pouch was located and inside (were) four unopened Narcan nasal sprays and a methamphetamine pipe… a green in color glass pipe and marijuana residue.”
The affidavit states that the search uncovered over 100 hypodermic needles along with three digital scales and additional methamphetamine in a “small rubber skull.”
City police charged Cross with possession with intent to deliver, two counts of possession of firearm prohibited and several lesser drug charges.
He was arraigned by Forest County District Judge Daniel Miller on Saturday at 6 p.m. and placed in the county jail after he was unable to post $65,000 bail.
